Caution! (Part 2)

This post builds upon and continues the prior post of Caution!.  Today, regrettably, the FDA Advisory Panel voted to approve the Pfizer vaccine, which is a vaccine unlike any previous; this is a type of gene therapy which should not be widely distributed at this early stage until more data is gathered.  This decision is the height of irresponsibility.  This coronavirus has undoubtedly sickened some, but there are also many who exhibit little to no symptoms.  And viruses are always spreading through the community every year, so this situation is not the crisis leaders make it out to be.  No, this virus does not justify emergency use and wide distribution of an unproven novel gene therapy on the healthy general population; it's absurd.

More news broke today about another vaccine being developed by CSL for Australia which makes use of HIV components that has now caused participants in the clinical trial to test positive for HIV.  This is worrying, who would want any piece of the terrible HIV virus in them?  And how do we know there's not the real virus in there, or enough of it to do damage.  But more troubling, is if HIV protein fragments are being widely used to somehow target the spike protein of the coronavirus, this presence of a retrovirus (which HIV is one) has graver effects.  Retroviruses are capable of Reverse Transcription -- of turning MRNA single strands into double-helix DNA strands which can be incorporated into the host genome.  Thus MRNA vaccines could very realistically effect the genome and germline.  At the minimum, persons with a past history of retroviruses such as HIV, or perhaps even Hepatitis B or C, should be steered clear of this vaccine.

Continuing, even if a limited amount of MRNA strands are injected into someone, if a retrovirus or some similar mechanism reverses that template and builds DNA which becomes a part of the body, this has indefinite effects and will probably be passed on to any children born, just as babies get HIV, and other genes, from their mother.  So, even after the initial dose is gone, the body may be changed and continue producing spike proteins of the coronavirus.  These may eventually become seen as native or endogenous by the body, which means that there will be no immune response, thus causing the person to become much more susceptible to future coronavirus infection.

Furthermore, there are often mutations in retrogenes made thru reverse-transcription from MRNA.  This means that a person could then be indefinitely manufacturing a potentially misfolded, misshapen, or toxic protein.  Many illnesses are caused by such deformed proteins, such as Huntington's disease and possibly Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.  These toxic proteins, which often form clumps, lead to cellular death and malfunction.

These issues reveal why HIV and Hepatitis are such nasty diseases, which are difficult to eradicate, as they truly become part of one's genomic expression.  Interestingly, endogenous retroviruses compose 5-8% of the genome, as they are just a part of nature, though obviously HIV is an example of a rogue malicious one.  The salient point is that this new class of gene therapy which uses MRNA needs to be further studied and tested before widespread use.  There is the very real possibility that these coronavirus vaccines could do more harm than good on the general population, and unfortunately after administering a gene therapy it cannot be undone.  Thus prudence is required.
